Demand Based Irrigation System
In November 2011, a Demand based irrigation scheme (DBIS) was installed at village Rabta, Abbottabad. DBIS reduces water-loss through seepage and brings rain-fed areas under controlled irrigation through construction of water distribution system. It was initiated to help farmers attain better crop efficiency with minimum use of water. The total cultivable area covered through this scheme is 2.5 acres, having a major crop potential for orchards and other vegetables such as potatoes, peas, etc. The beneficiaries of this project are 20 farmers and 100 people (tenants, co-workers, villagers, and labor) in the village.
